Well, I suppose I should write something in here... Been a bit since I updated with text...
Life is rather boring right now. We're still in the midst of doing unpacking, I'm looking for a job and vegging, and also doing some soul searching. I just read a book Eli by Bill Myers that really opened my eyes...
Most of you know that I'm a "what if" reader. I like reading books that take a well known fact and change it around. IE: The south wins the Civil War and that changes the world's preparedness for the rest of the wars. Something like that. Well Eli is similar. We've got a guy who is investigating possible parallel Universes and ends up having an accident. While in his universe he's a vegetable and his daughter is struggling to know whether to pull the plug or not, he is in another world. A place just like ours, but for the fact that Jesus hasn't come. Eli is Christ and the message is the same. Eli is up against everything our modern world is about and it makes for a very interesting read. It's an eye-opener as well, 'cause Myers shows how it could have been if Jesus came in the 21st century.
But what really struck me was that the 12 men he chose were pimps, porn mongerers and etc. The 20th century version of the 12 disciples are the dirt of the era. and they gave their lives to Eli completely even though they didn't understand exactly what was going on.
I also realized, though this and through the things God had been showing me the last couple of days that He is God and does give Grace and mercy. It's pretty cool, 'cause I sometimes feel like a piece of dirt and He is willing to give me a second chance.
