I have to say that God is totally awesome! The last couple of weeks I've been learning some new things about Him. One: He is forgiving. Two: He's always there for me. Three: If I let Him, He'll use me as a conduit for His Spirit. Four: No matter how I feel, He has a plan for me.
I was thinking of going into detail of how He's been working on me, but I think that's something I'm going to share with personal friends - not the world.
Classes
Greek - yes, you heard right, I'm taking Greek. I've had two classes already and I'm convinced it's what God wants for me. There are so many issues out there that I can find the truth about and be able to share. It's a tool that I know God is going to use in my ministry.
Intro to Native American Lit. - A Ms. L. course that I can use for Intro to Lit I. After one class I'm thinking I'm going to really enjoy it. Yes, I'm a little skeptical of the whole Native thing, but I think it's going to be good for me to get some of their point of view. We're not really going to be discussing the culture. It'll be more like the point of view and literary style and that sort of thing than the culture.
Principles of Sociology - now this one is going to be rather difficult. I'm thinking that the whole science thing really isn't me, but I do think this class will help me to understand people better. It's a big class though. Most of the Sophomore class is in it.
Music and Worship - Now I tend to think this may be a pretty easy class. However I may be mistaken. It'll mostly be talking about Davidic Worship and then we'll be hitting different types of worship. It should be fun. I don't think we'll have too much homework.
Speech I - Communication is vital and in this class I'll be learning how to speak in front of people. I'm pretty excited about it, actually. Even though it's something that I really don't do too well I know that it's something that I really need to learn! The teacher seems nice too. That is always a plus.
So all in all I think this term's classes are going to be very good. I have a drive to learn that I don't think I had last year. I had the desire to get through classes and achieve, but I don't think I had the desire to really know the subjects. This year I'm excited to learn and I have strategies to achieve that. I want to retain the majority of what I learn and to be able to ace tests because I know the material, not because I cram. It's going to be a challange, though, to keep up this attitude. I have to keep up with devotions or else everything is going to crash.
The thing with taking Greek (which made me decide to change to Pastoral Studies with a Lang. Minor) is that it's totally messing up my class schedules. Greek is a Junior class and is going to be second period all year. That of course makes me have to skip certain classes. I'm looking at my schedule and i'm thinking that at least two classes are going to have to be taken independent study. which is a bit more expensive than the normal classes would be, but it's going to be the only way to fit them into my college career if I want to graduate in 4 years, which I do. So this summer may be filled with school.
Friends
It felt so good to see all my friends after a summer of no friends around. I visited Elizabeth in WA for three days before coming to Eugene. Steve from Canada was there too and the time we all spent together was incredible. God has something for all of us, I know it!
getting into Eugene and seeing all the returning students was great. I never realized how much I missed them all until I saw them again. It's going to be a really good school year!
Church
Well, last year I attended Calvary Open Bible, but started to feel like this wasn't where God wanted me. so this year I have started to search for a new fellowship. I went to a new foursquare plant on sunday, which was really fun. It's at least 100 people and that was on the 2nd service. It has come from a bigger church that had a lot of commuters. However, I'm thinking this may be the place. I'm thinking I'll go next Sunday and see what that's like and then pray really hard.
