turns out that I was wrong

Friday, February 21, 2003

well I was able to use my laptop in the church history test. I think I probably got the same grade that I did last time. A- on the definitions and B- or + on the essay. That would give me an A- on the entire thing. I wonder if my predictions will come true.

I'm finishing up on my taxes. I'll get a refund that will pay for Mexico and then perhaps pay off an eye bill. Then I'll have to get a job most definitely next term. Wow, I know I hate money with a passion! Oh well, at the moment that's what makes the world go round. I think when I get back from Mexico, I'll do registration and then go hit the mall and some other places to get applications. I'll bring 'em home, fill 'em out, attach resumes to them and then take 'em back to the stores. Will be interesting to see how many I get and whether I get any interviews. But that's the future and the present is right now.

Speaking of the present, I'm going to be helping out at a Creation Seminar tonight and tomorrow. Professor Miles (my boss in the computer lab) and Miss. P. got organized and will be doing a presentation. Kevin Haley will be there as well. I'm looking forward to this. First time I've ever been able to help out at something like this. Very cool.
That's odd... Thought I had published last night (or this morning, however you want to look at it...)

Stayed up until 2 studying. I'm going to look over my study guides once more this morning and that should be enough. I'm aiming for A's so I hope I have the right information.
Well, two tests tomorrow... I think the spiritual Formation one will be good, not difficult at all, but the church history one has a lot of information to remember. I spent yesterday making study guides and today I've studied fairly well. (problem is I have a Bio study guide I have to work on tonight. Late nighter for me...) Hopefully Mr. A. will allow me to use my laptop. I think better when typing. We shall see...

(I'm still stoked that I got an A on my essay!! Whoohooo! *grins*)

Doing: Searching the Internet for a quote from the matrix and trying to figure out how to cite a movie.
Thinking: This essay is turning out better than I thought it would.
Going to do this evening: Prepare flashcards for the Chruch History test and read some Jeremiah and Ezekiel. But that will be after I clean and perhaps help with room checks.

written earlier this evening --

I am sitting over in the U of O library taking a break from writing my essay. I’ve got an essay due tomorrow and I have to get it done by 6:30 that evening. I started it yesterday and I’m almost done with the first draft. There’s a couple things that I need to get back at the dorm, but then I’ll print it out and try some revision tomorrow.
Of course, this essay isn’t the only thing I needed to do today. I had a reading in World of Ideas that I was able to do in the computer lab today. We have to do a journal entry on every piece of reading and usually I don’t get it done until really late. Well, that was the first thing I did here at the library. I was happy ‘cause I wasn’t cramming and fighting sleep for once so I was able to spend time on writing it and actually make it make sense. *grins* Okay there’s two things that I have done today. What else?
Two tests on Friday… Spiritual formation shouldn’t be too hard. The teacher’s study guides are pretty easy and all we have to do is be familiar with the book. He even gives page numbers. Church History will be more difficult. The questions are short answer and there’s one essay topic that we have to write for. Not too difficult, but his study guides cover a lot of info and I need to take the time to pull that information out. Then I also have a test on Monday that I’m going to miss ‘cause of going to an eye appointment up in Portland. I’ll be able to take it on Wednesday ‘cause I have a good Biology teacher.
Oh and Bible Reading. I’m supposed to be through Lamentations by tomorrow. Hah! Isaiah and Jeremiah are too big to get through fast. I’m almost done with Jeremiah and will start on Lamentations sometime tomorrow. Then I have to hit Ezekiel and that is due on Thursday. Argh. Oh well, I’ll read the textbook and be somewhat knowledgeable when we get to class.
One more assignment: Two different classes have book reports due next week. Guess what I’m doing over the weekend?
So yeah, I’m busy.
(oh and I’ve decided not to answer why Jer. 16:2 was my verse the other day. If you’ve talked to me on the phone, you might know.)
Well, I’m going to wrap up and go back to the dorms so I can read that textbook and print out my essay.

Eh.. good day, however, I made a mistake. Let my tongue say something it shouldn't have. May cause problems in friendships. Ouch. No more to say, but would appreciate prayer.

Read:

A small town had three churches Presbyterian, Methodist, and Baptist. All three had a serious problem with squirrels in the church. Each church in its own fashion had a meeting to deal with the problem.

The Presbyterians decided that it was predestined that squirrels be in the church and that they would just have to live with them.

The Methodists decided they should deal with the squirrels lovingly in the style of Charles Wesley. They humanely trapped them and released them in a park at the edge of town. Within 3 days, they were ! all back in the church.

The Baptists had the best solution. They voted the squirrels in as members. Now they only see them at Christmas and Easter.

Opinion: Christian Enthusiasm
God is awesome! Some people think that worshiping God is a duty and that we should be solemn about it and be serious. Well, I agree with that to a point. While we should not take our walk lightly, there's also a joy to it. We have a wonderful relationship with our Abba Father and there is nothing wrong with being expressive about it. Be enthusiastic about serving God!

I just got back yesterday from spending the weekend at a condo about 3 hours from here. My uncle and aunt came over from MA to spend a week at their timeshare. They invited my family to come and visit and get to see my 11 month cousin! It was a blast. Jason R., a friend of mine here, heard I was heading to that area and hitched a ride along with me. He stayed with a friend and had a good time. We had a really good discussion during the ride to and from.

We had a blast getting to know Declan. He wasn't sure about us at first, but warmed up by Sunday morning. I couldn't believe some of the faces I got from him! *laughs* I did get some pictures, so I'll try and develop them soon.

I've been a bit lax lately on my school work. My first essay this term was the lowest grade I have received in writing -- 68. *grimaces* Ah, well, that's what I get for doing it very last minute. Hopefully this evening I'll be able to come up with some sort of thesis. I desperately want to spend more time on this next paper.

Last night I was in the computer lab just hanging (and reading Steve Woziack's comments on Pirates of Silicon Valley when I get a call on my cell. Jason and some others were doing a worship time up at the cross and I decided to go up there. Wow! that was soooo awesome. I got touched and we had a good time worshiping for an hour and a half. Very cool.

I'm just sensing that God is going to enriche my prayer life this term. Times to pray for people have just seemed to fall into my lap. I've seemingly started to use my old gift of counseling or whatever you want to call it. Seems like God is giving me more opportunities to talk with people and pray for them. It's kinda like what happened with the Wilbur Gang and the things God did with me. I'm excited to see this reawakening and my faith beginning to grow again. It's such an awesome feeling to know that I'm walking in His path again and He's living in me and enabling me to actively minister God to people. What a feeling!

So, have ya missed me? Lots of things going on.

Opinion: Getting up early is not my cup of tea. I've always been one to stay up late and sleep in, seems to fit my personality. Now that I'm in college late nights are the norm but sleeping in doesn't work until Saturdays. There are some times, however, that I wish I could wake up early and do more of a devotional time.
