I wrote the below two weeks ago.
Wow! That is really what I have to say right now. Yeah, I’m writing this at one in the morning and I’m wide awake. Kinda hard to sleep with adrenaline pumping through my body… But I suppose I ought to start at the beginning.
The beginning was actually about 12 hours ago when my parents got here from Madras. They had come over to bring my bike and some other things I needed from home. So we went to pizza hut and then went over to VOS computers. See, I had busted my laptop. *pouts* some girl had accidentally pushed over my desk when I was gone. I thought it was fine, but it turned out that the power plug in was busted. Wasn’t cool, so I was going to beg Dad for $600 or so from our college fund to buy a used laptop… Wellllll… He decided to go a bit more and bought me a new laptop for double that. Very, very cool. And I also got a new backpack! *grins*
So the new system is an Intel Pentium Centrino 1.3Ghz, 212MB of RAM, 30GB hard drive, DVD/CD-RW, and a bunch of ports. Oh and it has Windows XP Pro on it. I think I’ll be able to get used to it. I’m pretty happy ‘cause this is a big upgrade from the laptop (Pentium 133 or 233) and double the speed of my desktop (Celeron 600). I also have space for much more of my mp3 collection.
Anyways, I got back from shopping and set up the computer. Then I did homework for a few hours. About 11:40 or maybe after midnight the fire alarm went off. I get out of bed, put my slippers on, grabbed my coat and headed out the door. BUT…. As I started to open it, one of the RA’s opened it on me. Crunch! Ouch. As I hobbled down the stairs thinking that I just had a bad stubbed toe, I realized that my nail was bent backwards. (as I realized this, I told my RA that and he was starting to feel really bad. He officially felt bad when I took the slipper off). So we get to the flag pole and I sit down and look at my nail.. Yes it was bent back. Yes it was bleeding a bit. Yes some of the guys freaked out. So the RA’s, the head resident and I went into the building and I pulled the nail the rest of the way out. It wasn’t too bad actually. Because that was my worst fungused nail, it broke off instead of being deep. We hydrogen proxided it and bandaged it.
So yeah, I am reliving the time when I originally had my big toe nails removed.
I’m so pumped up right now, but I really need to get to sleep. I’m wondering how tomorrow is going to be… getting to classes is going to be a joy. There’s no way I’ll be able to get to my 7:30 learning skills class down in the apartments. Good thing my two classes are in the same building tomorrow. Going to be an interesting day…
Well, it’s most definitely time to go to sleep. G’night.
I wrote the below about 5 minutes ago.....
Well it’s been two weeks since that happened. I’m getting around quite well. My toe recovered quickly and doesn’t hurt at all now. I wonder how long it will take my nail to grow back…
I’ve found a home church now. Christ Fellowship is a smaller church of 50-100 people and God is moving. Fellowship is appropriate to them because that seems to be the heart of the church. That’s what I’ve been looking for and I think I’ll be able to get involved in the youth group and be able to help out. *smiles* Can’t wait until I see what He’s doing.
Homework is a bit stressful right now. Too many hours in the computer lab and then I’m needing at least a little bit of socialization! However, I think I’ve discovered the way to cope. I’m doing homework every day, but then on Saturday and Sunday spend the afternoons working on school. I think I’ll be able to keep ahead in most my classes and be able to spend the time I need to on the Greek.
Yes, Greek is quite fun – both in the sarcastic sense and in the literal sense. I am learning the case endings and have words to memorize and start to apply to translating. It’s been interesting. I think if I apply myself, I’ll be able to actually get it. Thing is I’m a little slower than the rest of the group so I have to work doubly hard to be able to keep up with them. Tis annoying, but that’s the pace at which I work.
Oh, one bit of news… I’m officially in a wedding this coming summer! Wheeeeeee! Gotta find a kilt and Scottish regalia sometime between now and August. Also the funds need to show up too. *grins* I’m sooooo tickled!
Well, I’m putting this on my transfer CD and am heading down to the student center to see if it’ll work on that computer down there. If it does you’ll get to
