Greetings all! I am currently in Everett, sitting at a computer owned by the older couple I'm living with. My travels were interesting - hit several downpours that seriously slowed me down. Had a pizza that took a half hour to cook and a half hour to eat. I got here just as the sun was setting and was able to get all my stuff in and get to know the Js a little. I have my own room, which is very nice.

Went to New Life Center this morning and proceeded to do what I could. I have no specific job duties at the moment (should be organized after meeting with Nate tomorrow). I ended up doing a variety of things (data entry, watching Tim work with video editing, researching prices on some equiptment) and attending the Sunday Planning meeting. That was interesting. There's so much involved in a church of this size that they have to have a department just to run the different elements of a Sunday Service. I'll probably be learning more in that department as the weeks progress. All in all, it wasn't a bad first day and there are a lot of nice people. I don't think I'm going to be bored. *grins*

So I'm going to be trying the waking up early routine again. I want to be able to use those hours in the morning again.

Anyways... I think I've covered what needs to be covered. tata.

This is my last post from home. Yay! I'm off to Everett this afternoon. I know where I'm staying and will give them a call soon to tell them I'm on my way. Finally, after all that waiting, I'm actually going to be starting my internship. I'm extremely happy!

I've been trying to whittle down what I'm taking up there, and I'm leaving a fair bit of what I brought. I may still have too much though. Oh well, it'll stay in the car if it has to.

Oh and if you're in the market for a new computer - My brother is selling a sweet system.

I'm getting tired of waiting for this summer to officially start. I mean, it's been nice to be home and relax for two weeks, but I want to do what I'm signed up to do. I've been playing phone tag the last couple days with the guy who has been scheduling things. He left a message saying that he did have a place for me to stay, but that we needed to discuss details. I called him yesterday and he has yet to call me. I sent him an email and another one today and will call him tomorrow afternoon. If I don't get ahold of him, there are two options - one, hope I get ahold of him on Monday, and two, drive up on Monday and sit in the parking lot of the church. *laughs* I'm sure we'll be making contact in one way or another.

I made a trip down to Wal-Mart today. Needed to rotate my tires and balance 'em (something you're supposed to do regularly and I've done three times since I bought the tires. Ooops.) as well as pick up some prints I made. Mom and Dad had gone driving and hiking on their anniversary and borrowed my digital camera. I uploaded two of their pictures and one of mine to the Walmart site and bought 8x10 prints. Today I picked them up, framed them, and gave Mom one of Dad for a late Mother's Day gift and gave Dad one of Mom for a late Father's Day gift. Then I gave myself one of my nice Sahalie Falls pics. *grins* Those prints turned out quite well and made a good gift.

I put my shelves in my room, but the paint still smells. I'm thinking it needs to stay in the garage for the summer and then it'll be ready for use.

So, my brother just put together a linux machine. It's a pretty cool machine. If I had $1000 I'd buy it. He's selling it on ebay (well, at least when he gets it up on ebay). He put Ubuntu on it and I got to mess with it a little. I think I'd like to put Ubuntu on this laptop. It'll take some doing though and I currently don't have enough storage to dual boot. Thus I'm waiting for some extra fundage to come in for me to buy a 160gb hard drive.

You know you love books when you discover a bunch of your kid books that have been in a box mildew damaged and the majority of them unsalvagable and you feel like a loved one has died. *sniffs* These were all the books that I first read. Some of them might be replacable, but it's going to be hard to find the same editions. *sighs* See, I was saving these for my kids so that we didn't have to have a lot of the new, liberal, books.

Same with the stuffed animals that got ruined. Though I wanted to save those for sentimental sake.

Oh well, these things are elemental.

I put together a cd today and I thought I'd post the playlist. These are a sample of the variety I listen to.

MP3 playlist
“The Saga Begins” Weird Al Yankovic
A parody of course. He tells the tale of the Phantom Menace quite well.
“Pink Elephants On Parade” Dumbo
One of Disney's more weirder songs, I like the music and it brings back memories of watchign Dumbo.
“Bullfrogs & Butterflies” Barry McGuire
Classic song of rebirth.
“The Lighthouse’s Tale” Nickel Creek
Sad tale, but the music really brings it together as a song I enjoy.
“Satan, Bite The Dust” Carman
One of the first songs I can remember liking.
“Cosmic Cowboy” Barry McGuire
This is another one of the first songs I can remember listening to. Very cool song.
“#1 Fan” KJ-52
A rap of a fan KJ tries to help. Very moving.
“Beautiful You” Considering Lily
Green hair.
“Soulbait” Code of Ethics
Fishing for souls. Kinda techno.
“The Return Of Aslan” Narnia
80's like instrumental. Lot of distortion, but quite enjoyable.
"A Flowery Song” Five Iron Frenzy
Yay, it's ska! Gotta love those horns.
“Adonai” The O.C. Supertones
More ska. More horns.
“Forever” Chris Tomlin
This is a great worship song. First time I heard it I got shivers
“Cup” Considering Lily
A tale of dryness and where the true water comes from.
"Mercy is Falling” Winnipeg Centre Vinyard
Classic worship song.
“My Redeemer Lives” Christ Fellowship Worship Band
Recorded by my church. This is one of my favorites that they do.
“White as Snow” Eric and Leslie Ludy
Mellow and worshipful.

Well, my internship has been put off for a week. Seems that Nate and several other staff members are going to be gone. So, my parents have the pleasure of my company for another week. My official starting day is the 28th. Which pushes the end of the internship past Labor Day and might make it more difficult to get into an apartment - Josh you're going to need to be the eyes and ears down in Eugene.

I got the first coat done on my shelves. Today I will be working on the second coat. I'm really hoping that a third coat will not be necessary. This is my main project for today.

I'm also hoping to start going through the stuff I brought here and deciding just how many shirts I need, and etc, for my Everett stay. I have a feeling that wherever I stay, I'm going to have very little space. So I need to go through my stuff and figure out exactly what I need. I need my greek stuff, but I've got a whole bin full of binders related to that. I guess I'll finally have to sort through two years worth of notes and condense them down to a large binder...

Mom just reminded me of something... Did anyone ever read any Amelia Bedelia books when they were young? I did. Saturday Mom and I went garage saleing and discovered a sale that was a retired 2nd grade teacher's stuff. And guess what she had? Yes, 13 Amelia Bedelia books. I bought them for three bucks. A great find for my future kids! *grins* I was tickled.

Well, Dad is in his "let's get things done" mode. I think I'd better get ready for a day of work. Tata.

Now this is why I like coming home - the smell and the taste of chocolate chip cookies. My growing up years are full of these smells and tastes. She has this recipe that is simply to die for!

Life is good. I finished assembling my shelves yesterday and today I put the first coat of paint on. It's an interesting color which my father had on hand. Let's just say it'd be at home in a little one's room. *grins*

So, tomorrow I go to church, then we go to Star Wars for Dad's day. Should be fun. I have already seen E3, but I'm totally up for a second viewing. There's a lot in it and I think it'll take a couple more viewings to get it all. I have theories and I wonder if they are correct. After we return, I shall then put the second coat on it. Once it dries on Monday, I'll take a picture and post it.

Tuesday is the day of travel. I get to drive up to Everett and report in to Devin. I hope they have a place for me to sleep. That would be a really good thing. *laughs* If push comes to shove, I'm sure they'll put me up in a motel.

If you can't tell, I've created a new look for this blog. Haven't yet worked on the front page, but this is now changed.

Currently in JC's life:
I'm working on building some shelves for my apartment next fall. It's fun, 'cause I'm learning how to operate power tools . I like this sense of creativity it gives me to be building something.

Ryan at Graduation

I also added some pics of Sahalie falls.

You ever feel like relaxing? Especially after three months of stress? If you're a student, you know what I mean. This term has been extemely difficult and now that I'm home, I'm having troubles relaxing. It's like I'm coming off of the stress high and can't get my mind around the fact that I am done. *sigh*

Anyways, I've been working on several things while home. The first was to get my files backed up. My brother is building a sweet nonMicrosoft computer and it has a DVD burner. So, since Ubuntu (linux) recognized my computer on the network, I was able to burn ten gigs of stuff. This is something I've been needing to do for a very long time.

The second is to help out Dad. I've been almost yearning to do physical labor for awhile now, and there's a lot to do around here. I have a lot of spading to do.

The third is to go through some of my stuff and make my room easier for mother to use. I plan on getting rid of some of my stuff. (big step for me, mr. packrat).

The fourth is to install ubuntu on this computer to be able to start my conversion to using things that aren't microsoft. I am excited to try this thing out. Should be cool.

I am offically done with my Junior year!!!!!! I am totally stoked. I spent yesterday and today wrapping up loose ends and finishing up courses.

I'm going to graduation tonight because a lot of my friends are graduating and I want to be there for them. I also want to take pictures! *grins*

So yeah, I'm done.

Did I mention that I was done?

Yeah, I'm done.

Friday, June 03, 2005

I can't believe that today was the last day of classes. It's amazing to me that I'm finishing up with my Junior year and that next year I'll be a Senior and almost to the point of graduation. I have an internship to do in WA that's honestly starting to scare me. I think it has to do with the beginning of change. When I was a freshman, I was excited because I had four years of knowing that I'd be in one place. It's hitting me now that after this summer I have one year left and then I'll probably leave eugene, leave my friends, and start ministering FOR REAL! I have a lot of friends in the senior class this year and to see them starting off into the wild, real world, is hitting me.

I think part of my feelings might stem from the fact that I'm not going to be around familiar faces or areas this summer. Last summer I was able to keep up with the church, and various friends that stayed in Eugene. This year will be much different. At least Steve and Liz are going to be around.

Plus I am starting to think about life after graduation and what to do then. I'm considering a master's though I haven't received any direction on that. I'm also wondering about interning somewhere the year after graduation. There's a lot of possibilities and they are starting to pile up.

There's also the pressure of being single and seeing my friends hooking up. A lot of my conversations, even with other singles, revolve around marriage and dating and all that jazz. It's something that is almost constantly on my mind and I am having difficulties being content in my singleness (to draw from a cliche). I'm happy for my friends and I wish them well, but I'm kinda jealous. Oh well, God knows best.

I'm also feeling the last week stress. Too much to do and very little time.

Today
Finish work at five.
I'm going to the senior's honor banquet tonight

Saturday
Taking Joe to the Portland Airport in the morning
Going to Ryan and Kristine's farewell party tomorrow afternoon,
If I have any energy left, doing a take home final that evening.

Sunday
In the morning I'm going to be staying later than usual after church to be able to say goodbye to everyone. (I love Christ Fellowship! That's another thing that's going to be hard to leave after graduation).
I was just told that I'm going to have to work 7 to 9 Sunday night after thinking I wouldn't have to. Oh well.
Then more homework after that. I have a stance paper to write...

Monday
I need to hand in the take home final by 1pm.
Sometime during this day I get to write western civ papers.
Start memorizing scripture for Theology.
No work this week (thank you Brandon!!!!)

Tuesday
Start studying for Pastoral Skills Final.
Continue with Memorization
Go to dinner with Josh's family at 6:00
I'm on duty in the cafeteria (they need someone to watch over it so that no one does stupid things) until 1:00.

Wednesday
Pastoral Skills Final - 10:00am
Then I continue memorizing
start studying for Western Civ Final
Try to go to YG though I'm thinking I'm going to stay home and study

Thursday
Take Western Civ final - sometime in the morning
write out memory verses - sometime in the afternoon
7:00pm is graduation and I am most certainly going to be there. Gotta support my friends.
after the ceremony I'll probably get to go to the school grad party

Friday
Sleep.
Hang out with Josh and fam.
Tease him and Brittany.
finish packing and take a last load to storage

Saturday
Maybe try and hang out with Jason in the morning and then travel in the late afternoon

The schedule is for my mother. *grins*

After I get into Madras I have plans:
  • build shelves

  • redesign this site. I am tired of the colors and I want more room.

  • call: Big John, April, Melissa, B's, and several others. I want to talk a lot on the phone

The nice thing about this summer is that I will have a camera and I will be taking pictures! *grins* Anyways... Tata

If anyone sees this shirt (XXL) in a thrift store, I'd pay for it.

One week and we'll be done with school! *big grin*

Wednesday, June 01, 2005

I just put a link to my brother's Writings. He has a few stories that he's written that I am very impressed with. They make you think.
