Okay, so Friday I had an interview at Burger King. Went there, 10 minutes early, and there was a girl there asking about an application. I stepped up and said that I was there for an interview. Turns out that the hiring manager was out and so they told us to wait. I sat down and the girl asked to join me. We had a conversation while watching the clock. The manager was about 20 minutes late.

She interviewed me and offered me the job. I said yes, even though I didn't really want to work there. Then she drops the zinger: No gotee. So, on Saturday I shave. I also get a call on Saturday to interview at Wilco Farm Supply on Monday.

Sunday I walk into church and see that Isaac was able to buzz his hair. Then he turns around and he's cleanshaven too! We look at eachother and Isaac says "This is too weird!" Tom thought I should introduce myself as Johnny Cash since I was wearing black...

Then on Monday I went to the interview. The manager likes me and has me do some paperwork and tests. Then the computer had problems and I couldn't do the assessment test. He said that he was considering me for the stocker position and that you can go ahead and take the drug test while waiting for the assessment test. I hop in my car, head over and take the drug test, then head back and take the assessment test. I asked him what to tell BK since I was going in to do paperwork. He said to tell them that I got a better job. So that's what I did.

Meanwhile, my friend Brian was flying into Portland and needed to be picked up. I was able to go up there and pick him up later than would have been ideal, but at least I was able to get him. Since I was in the area, I decided to go and see my friend Josh and his wife. That was fun and I'm glad we did that.

So, God taught me a lot about being willing to swallow my pride and take the lowest job I would never have taken, even to the point of shaving my gotee. Then, and this is the God we serve, He provided a better job with full time hours and above minimum wage. Incidentally, I can also have my gotee back.

I thank You Lord for providing for me. Amen.

He always "comes through," doesn't He? I almost hate to put it that way--it seems to trivialize it...but sometimes that's just how it feels on our side. :)
